We have been hearing reports of the last few weeks that sales of the Apple Watch were declining, these rumors were put to rest this week when Apple CEO, Tim Cook revealed that sales of their smartwatch increased in June over the previous months.
Now according to a recent report from Strategy Analytics, Apple has managed to grab 75% of the global smartwatch market in quarter 2 of 2015.
The table below shows that Samsung was the top smartwatch vendor prior to the launch of the Apple Watch, this changes quite significantly when the Apple Watch is launched.
Neil Mawston, Executive Director at Strategy Analytics, added, “We estimate Apple Watch shipped 4.0 million units and captured a dominant 75 percent smartwatch marketshare worldwide in Q2 2015. Apple Watch launched in sixteen major countries and saw decent take-up from iPhone loyalists in the United States and elsewhere. Apple Watch has clearly raised the bar for the global smartwatch industry. The ball is now in the court of rivals, like Samsung, to respond.”
Apple has not revealed any details on how many or their smart watches they have sold, although the company did announced that they have sold more units of the device than they did the original iPhone and iPad in the first 9 weeks it was available.
As soon as we get some more details on just exactly how many units of Apple’s new smartwatch they have sold, we will let you guys know.
