Apple and Samsung are still involved in various legal battles, Samsung were recently told by a US court to pay Apple damages of $930 million.
According to a recent report by Foss Patents, Apple is looking for Samsung to pay them royalty fees for each smartphone they sell, and the fee appears to be pretty high.
Apple want Samsung to pay them $40 for each smartphone or tablet they sell, this royalty fee will apparently cover five patents which Apple owns.
$40 per device does seem excessive, it would certainly drive up the price of Samsung’s smartphones and tablet, and considering how many devices Samsung sells per year, this could generate serious additional revenue for Apple.
Whether or not the two companies will come to an agreement on these licensing fees remains to be seen, you can find out more information about what Apple wants from Samsung, and its reasoning behind the proposed deal over at Foss Patents at the link below.
