According to a recent report by The Verge, Apple is trying to get the free versions of streaming services like Spotify and others killed off, which would help the company gain new users when it launches its own service.
Spotify has 60 million users at the moment, 15 million of these are paid subscribers, the other 45 million users are subscribers to the free Spotify service.
Apple has apparently also offered to pay Universal Music Group YouTube’s licensing fee if Universal stops it songs from being on YouTube.
