We recently heard that Apple were considering launching an iTunes App for Google’s Android platform, the Android App is apparently part of Apple’s strategy to increase iTunes downloads.
Now according to a recent report, Apple is also looking to give iTunes a major overhaul, with a new design and features, in an attempt to boost music download sales.
According to the report, music downloads from iTunes have been on the decline, as people are using streaming services like Spotify instead, Apple launched their own streaming service, iTunes Radio last year.
It would appear that iTunes Radio has not helped Apple increase their download sales, and they are now looking at other avenues to boost sales.
iTunes is still the major player in music downloads, and sales on the platform account for around 40 percent of US music sales and revenue.
Apple are apparently looking at a new on demand subscription service for iTunes, which would allow users to download the music they want, the company also has some other plans in the works.
According to the report by Billboard, Apple’s iTunes could look completely different than it does today over the next three to five years.
