Apple has released iOS 4.2 Gold Master to developers, this means that it shouldn’t be too long before Apple releases iOS 4.2 to everyone, as Gold Master is usually the final release of their iOS and SDK.
iOS 4.2 will bring a range of new features to the iPad, which include Folders and Multitasking, and bring it in line with other iOS devices like the iPhone and iPod Touch.
New Features for iPad
One of the most anticipated features in iOS 4.2 for the iPad is the introduction of Folders. This feature allows users to organize their apps into folders, making it easier to manage and access their applications. This is particularly useful for users who have a large number of apps and want to keep their home screens tidy.
Another significant addition is Multitasking. With Multitasking, users can switch between apps without having to close them. This feature enhances productivity by allowing users to run multiple apps simultaneously and switch between them seamlessly. For example, you can listen to music while browsing the web or check your email while using another app.
New Features for All iOS Devices
As well as changes to the iPad, all iOS devices will get a range of new features in iOS 4.2 which include AirPrint. AirPrint means you will be able to print directly from your iPod, iPad, or iPhone via a networked Mac or compatible HP Printer. This feature eliminates the need for additional software or drivers, making printing from your iOS device straightforward and convenient. Imagine being able to print a document or a photo directly from your iPhone without having to transfer it to a computer first.
Another exciting feature in iOS 4.2 is AirPlay. AirPlay will allow you to stream videos, music, and photos from your iPhone, iPod, or iPad to your Apple TV. This feature enhances the multimedia experience by enabling users to enjoy their content on a larger screen. For instance, you can stream a movie from your iPad to your Apple TV and watch it on your television, or share a photo slideshow with friends and family on a bigger screen.
Additionally, iOS 4.2 brings improvements to the Mail app, including a unified inbox, which allows users to view emails from multiple accounts in a single inbox. This feature simplifies email management and makes it easier to keep track of messages from different accounts.
Apple should release iOS 4.2 to everyone within the next couple of weeks. As soon as we get some information on when it is available, we will let you guys know.
