Apple Maps came under a fair bit of criticism when it launched on iOS 6, and replaced Google Maps as the stock mapping application, and Apple has been working on improving the application.
Now it would appear that Apple Maps is being updated on a daily basis, this was discovered by Reddit user heyyoudvd, who has been tracking the updates to Maps on iOS over the last month.
Apple has apparently started listening to user feedback on Maps over the last month or so, and have made a number of changes to the software to fix issues, that users have been reporting.
Maps is FINALLY improving. I’ve seen more improvements to the POIs in my area over the past month than I had seen in the previous 2 years COMBINED. It still has a long way to go, but after years of frustration, we’re finally seeing some real forward momentum.
Maps was pretty much left out of the WWDC Keynote earlier this month, this was apparently due to a number of changes at the Apple Maps team, and some major updates for the software were apparently not ready for WWDC.
We are looking forward to seeing what improvements Apple brings to their mapping software later in the year, we are not expecting to see much of an update with iOS 8 when it launches this fall.
