Apple announced iOS 5 back in June, and today at their iPhone 5 event Apple has announced that iOS 5 will be available for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad from the 12th of October.
We have already seen many of the new features in iOS 5 over the last few months, which include the new lock screen that will display notifications, Twitter integration, the new camera home screen shortcut, iCloud, iMessage and much more.
One of the major new updates in iOS 5 will be the ability to update your device without having to hook it up to your PC or Mac, meaning that you will be able to recieve over the air updates for iOS.
iOS 5 will be available to download for the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad, iPad 2 and the 3rd and fourth generation iPod Touch from the 12th of October as a free download from iTunes.
