Every entertainment center I have ever owned has been poorly ventilated. If you get a DVR, a game console, and an AV receiver inside a cabinet with doors and only four little holes to let the heat out your gear may not be long for this world. Antec has a new cooling device that looks like ones for notebooks, but this is one just for home theater gear.
The cooler is called the Antec soundscience a/v cooler and it can hold two smaller items or one larger on top. The top of the device is made from aluminum to transfer heat. Inside the case is a pair of 80mm blower fans.
Those fans operate on two speeds and draw only 5W on high. They are also quiet with 28.7 dB of noise production. The hot air is drawn in from under the case and then shot out of vents on the back of the cooler. You can get one for $139.95.
