Lord of the Rings style unexpected alliances apparently happen in real life as well. Legally embattled George Hotz has received some support from unexpected quarters as the by now notorious hacker collective Anonymous group has posted a message threatening reprisals against Sony for the ongoing lawsuit against the PS3 jailbreaker.
You might remember Anonymous for feats ranging from bringing down the Gawker, Amazon and Mastercard sites to cyber-bullying and sending death threats to an eleven-year old girl. “You have now abused the judicial system in an attempt to censor information on how your products work. You have victimised your own customers merely for possessing and sharing information, and continue to target every person who seeks this information,” their message read. And, of course, their calling card: “Knowledge is Free. We are Anonymous. We are Legion. We do not Forgive. We do not forget. Expect us.””Consequences will never be the same” has a better ring to it, if you ask us.
