If you watched Apple’s WWDC 2013 presentation earlier this year you are sure to remember the small remote control cars that were used in the presentation called Anki Drive.
If you have been patiently waiting to get your hands on a set you will be pleased to learn that the new iOS controlled artificial intelligence-based Anki Drive racing game will be available to purchase later this month.
The Anki Drive racing game takes the form of a next-generation slot car racing game that includes care that are equipped with machine learning, smartphone control system together with artificial intelligence, which helps keep the cars on the track.
The track used by Anki Drive has been specially developed and connects to an iPhone device using Bluetooth. The cars calibrate their position on the track using tiny cameras and software and can steer the track on their own, with players controlling how fast they can go and firing their on-board machine guns at other competitors. The purpose of the game is to shoot your opponents off the track with the highest number of hits. Check out the video demonstration below to see the new Anki Drive game in action.
By shooting other cars on the track you receive points which you can use to upgrade your car and purchase more advanced weaponry. The Anki Drive cars are all unique in themselves and have their own names and unique qualities, with some offering greater acceleration speeds while others are capable of carrying more energy. The game also offers a number of gameplay modes including single player and multiplayer.
The new Anki Drive racing game will be launching in the US and Canada later this month on October 23rd 2013 and will be available to purchase from the Apple website and retail stores for $199. This price includes 2 cars, charges and the special racetrack. Additional cars are available to purchase for $69 each.
