Google unveiled the latest Android 4.4 KitKat operating system on Thursday along with the long-rumored Google Nexus 5. The new operating system comes with a lot of new features with the most common one being the support for budget devices, as well as a few design changes. One thing that many of us failed to notice is the new version of Google keyboard.
Thanks to Android Police, the updated Google Keyboard is now available for download. The new Google Keyboard brings several new features including next word predictions, gesture typing, built-in emoji support that allows users to emoji smileys and much more. Some features of the application are quite similar to SwiftKey and users who tried the keyboard will find them in the updated Google Keyboard. The folks at Android Police managed to extract the Google Keyboard from Android Kitkat, which is available for download.
If you’d like to install the update, simply download the keyboard from the source link and install it like any other application. But, you might have to enable installation from unknown sources as it’s the apk of the Google Keyboard. Once installed, just select the Google Keyboard from settings and you’re good to go. If you tried the new Google Keyboard v2, share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
