We already know that a couple of Samsung’s devices will be getting the Android 4.4 Kit Kat update, and now details have been leaked on more Galaxy devices that will get the update.
The guys over at Sammobile managed to get their hands on an internal document from Samsung’s KOX security site, and this document revealed that Android 4.4 will be headed to more Samsung Galaxy devices.
Expanded List of Devices Receiving the Update
The list of Samsung devices that will get the Android 4.4 update includes the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3, so we can add these to the list of devices we heard about previously. This is in addition to the Samsung Galaxy S3, the Samsung Galaxy S4, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, and the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, plus the Note 2. The inclusion of both Samsung Galaxy Mega devices is particularly noteworthy as it shows Samsung’s commitment to keeping even their larger, less mainstream devices up to date with the latest software.
The Samsung Galaxy Mega series, known for its large screen sizes, has been popular among users who prefer a phablet experience. The Galaxy Mega 5.8 and 6.3, with their expansive displays, will benefit significantly from the Android 4.4 update, which is expected to bring performance improvements and new features that enhance the user experience.
What to Expect from the Android 4.4 Update
Android 4.4 Kit Kat is designed to run more efficiently on a wider range of devices, including those with lower RAM. This means that even older devices like the Galaxy S3 and Note 2 will see performance improvements. Users can expect a more responsive interface, better multitasking capabilities, and enhanced battery life. Additionally, Kit Kat introduces a host of new features such as a revamped user interface, improved Google Now integration, and new security enhancements.
For instance, the new “immersive mode” allows apps to take over the entire screen, hiding the system UI for a more engaging experience. This will be particularly useful on the larger screens of the Galaxy Mega devices. The update also brings enhanced support for cloud storage, making it easier for users to access their files from anywhere.
As yet, we do not have any details on when all of these devices will get the Android 4.4 software updates. The rollout process for such updates typically occurs in phases, starting with unlocked devices and then moving on to carrier-specific models. This staggered approach helps ensure that any potential issues can be addressed before the update reaches a wider audience.
Samsung has a history of providing timely updates to its flagship devices, and it is expected that the Galaxy S4 and Note 3 will be among the first to receive the update. The Galaxy S3 and Note 2, being older models, might receive the update a bit later, but the inclusion of these devices in the update list is a positive sign for users who have held on to their older phones.
As soon as we get more information on exactly when these updates will be available, we will let you guys know. In the meantime, users can prepare for the update by ensuring their devices have enough storage space and by backing up important data.
