Adobe has released a new version of their Photoshop Touch app for Apple’s iPad, the new version now supports Apple’s new iPad and its high resolution Retina display.
As well as offering support for the new Retina Display on the iPad you can now edit images up to 12 megapixel in size on the new iPad, other models are limited to images of a 10 megapixel size.
Enhanced Image Editing Capabilities
Photoshop Touch can now work with print-resolution images, up to 12 megapixels with several layers. Remember that Photoshop Touch works with up to 16 full-size layers in a single file, all in real-time, in contrast to more simple single-layer apps. The ability to work with multiple layers at such a high resolution is a big accomplishment, and we can’t wait to see what you can create with it. The default resolution is 4.2 megapixels with 10 layers, but you can raise that to 12* megapixels in Preferences.
This update significantly enhances the app’s capabilities, making it a more powerful tool for professional photographers and graphic designers. The ability to handle 12-megapixel images with multiple layers means that users can now create more complex and detailed compositions directly on their iPad. This is particularly useful for those who need to work on high-resolution images for print or digital media.
New Features and Improvements
In addition to the support for higher resolution images, the new version of Photoshop Touch includes several other improvements and new features. One of the most notable is the improved brush engine, which offers more precise control and a wider range of brush types. This allows for more detailed and nuanced editing, making it easier to achieve the desired effects.
Another significant update is the enhanced selection tools. The new version includes more advanced selection options, such as the ability to refine edges and select complex shapes more accurately. This is particularly useful for tasks such as cutting out objects from their backgrounds or creating intricate masks.
The app also now supports pressure-sensitive styluses, which can be a game-changer for artists and designers. This feature allows for more natural and intuitive drawing and painting, as the pressure applied to the stylus can affect the thickness and opacity of the brush strokes.
Furthermore, Adobe has improved the overall performance and stability of the app. Users will notice faster load times and smoother operation, even when working with large files and multiple layers. This makes the app more reliable and efficient, reducing the likelihood of crashes or slowdowns during intensive editing sessions.
