A team of engineers, designers, and tinkerers have created a high precision 3D scanner that uses the processing power of your smartphone or laptop to create detailed digital assets of objects from the real world. Watch the demonstration video below to learn more about the 3D scanner which supports both Android and iOS platforms.
Early bird pledges are available from C$259 or roughly $199 or £154. If all goes to plan and the manufacturing process progresses smoothly worldwide shipping is expected to take place during December 2019. Created by KIRI Innovation based in Toronto, Canada the Phiz offers an affordable alternative to many of the 3D scanners currently on the market.
“We continuously seek for affordable but accurate 3D scanning solutions. After a long search-and-trial period, we realized there weren’t many options available. More importantly, there wasn’t a community where we could ask for help. That’s why we designed Phiz. The accurate, affordable, easy-to-use 3D scanner. It connects all the 3D enthusiasts around the world. This project started 2 years ago, our ideas and expertise grew together with team size. It was started by two innovation pioneers and now the team size quadrupled with Ph.D.’s and overachievers across top colleges in the world. Today, we are ready to let the world see our hard work. Phiz, the 3D scanner that can turn almost anything into detailed 3D models.”
“Phiz is not only a 3D scanner, but also a platform for all of us to share the stunning 3D scans and creations. KIRI Hub will be the home for sculptors, artists, and 3D technology enthusiasts. Imagine a place to find all the cool figurines for 3D printing, and the models are provided by real sculptors, artists, researchers, engineers who use Phiz to digitize their work.”
