The design of this years iPhone X handsets is expected to be similar to last years, the 2019 iPhone X devices will get a new design and a number of new features. One of these will apparently be support for USB-C.
We recently heard a rumor that this years iPhone X handsets would come with a faster USB-C charger and a Lightning to USB adapter. So it would make sense for Apple to switch to USB-C the following year. According to Digitimes Apple will switch from Lightning to USB-C in 2019, with all of their new iPhones.
The adoption of USB Type-C in Apple’s MacBook series has already encouraged other notebook vendors to follow suit. However, sales of their new models that come with a Type-C port have been affected negatively by a general slowdown in the global PC market.
Apple’s adoption of Type-C in its iPhones will accelerate other smartphone companies’ adoption of the interface in their products, the sources indicated. The popularity of Type-C interface among handsets will still depend on the adoption in Apple’s iPhones, nevertheless, the sources said.
Apple are expected to launch three new iPhones this year, one LCD iPhone with a 6.1 inch display and two OLED iPhones, one with a 5.8 inch display, the other with a 6.5 inch display.
