Ford has announced that the F-150 truck fitted with a new 3.0L Power Stroke diesel engine will be at dealers next month. This engine will give the F-150 diesel trucks best-in-class diesel fuel economy, towing, and payload capacity. The engine is rated for 250 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque.
The engine is mated to a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. EPA estimates for fuel economy are 30 mpg highway, 22 mpg city, and 25 mpg combined. These are the highest EPA ratings for a full-size truck.
The F-150 with this new diesel engine can tow 11,400 pounds and up to 2,020 pounds of payload. Right now, we have no idea what the premium for the diesel engine will be, but we should know next month.
