The Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus launched in India earlier this month. At launch, the handsets were available in two storage options, 64GB and 256GB. There are now a total of three storage options to choose from as Samsung has now launched the 128GB model of each device in India.
Prices for the 128GB model start at RS 61,900 (about $955) for the Galaxy S9 and RS 68,900 (about $1,062) for the Galaxy S9 Plus.
Display and Performance
As a reminder, the Galaxy S9 comes with a 5.8-inch display with a QHD+ resolution, offering vibrant colors and sharp details that make it ideal for media consumption and gaming. The device is powered by either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor or a Samsung Exynos 9810 processor, depending on the region. This ensures that the phone delivers top-notch performance, whether you’re multitasking, gaming, or streaming videos. The Galaxy S9 is equipped with 4GB of RAM, which is sufficient for most users’ needs. Additionally, there is a choice of 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB of internal storage, plus a microSD card slot for extra storage, allowing users to expand their storage up to 400GB.
Camera Capabilities
The device also comes with a Super Speed Dual Pixel 12-megapixel camera on the back, featuring autofocus (AF) and optical image stabilization (OIS). This camera setup is designed to capture stunning photos in various lighting conditions, from bright daylight to low-light environments. The camera also supports 4K video recording, slow-motion video capture, and various shooting modes to enhance your photography experience. On the front of the handset, there is an 8-megapixel camera, perfect for selfies and video calls.
The Galaxy S9 Plus, on the other hand, features 6GB of RAM, providing an even smoother and more responsive user experience. It also comes with a dual-camera setup on the rear, consisting of two 12-megapixel cameras. This dual-camera system allows for enhanced photo quality, with features such as Live Focus, which lets you adjust the background blur in real-time, and Dual Capture, which takes two photos simultaneously—one with a close-up view and one with a wide-angle view.
Additional Features and Software
Both the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus come with a range of additional features that enhance the overall user experience. These include stereo speakers tuned by AKG, providing immersive audio quality, and support for Dolby Atmos, which delivers a 360-degree sound experience. The devices also feature an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, ensuring durability in various environments.
The Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus run on Samsung’s custom user interface, Samsung Experience, which is based on Android. This UI offers a range of customization options, allowing users to personalize their devices to suit their preferences. Additionally, Samsung’s Bixby virtual assistant is integrated into the devices, providing voice control, visual search, and contextual information to help users get things done more efficiently.
Battery Life and Connectivity
Battery life is another important aspect of these devices. The Galaxy S9 is equipped with a 3,000mAh battery, while the S9 Plus comes with a larger 3,500mAh battery. Both devices support fast charging and wireless charging, ensuring that you can quickly recharge your phone and get back to using it without long interruptions.
