Amazon Kindle Goes International

Amazon has announced that it will now be selling a new version of its Kindle e-book reader, that can wirelessly download books in the US and more than 100 other countries around the world.

The new kindle is almost identical to the existing model, it features a 6 inch display, and has 2GB of memory which can hold up to 1,500 books.

Amazon Kindle Goes International

“We regularly ship millions of English-language books to non-English speaking countries and people have to wait for the delivery,” said Jeffrey P. Bezos, Amazon’s chief executive. “Now they can get books in 60 seconds. That is a pretty exciting part of what we are announcing.”

The international Amazon Kindle will retail for $279, and Amazon has also reduced the price of the US version of the Kindle to $259.99 from $299.
