The Microsoft next generation Xbox One games console has been receiving a number of price cuts over the last few weeks by retailers and Microsoft themselves, to make the console more competitive with Sony’s next-generation PlayStation 4 which is priced slightly cheaper than the Xbox One.
It has been reported today that retailer Maplin UK’s has now further reduced the price of the Xbox One console to match that of Sony’s PlayStation 4 as you can see in the screenshot below.
Maplin UK has now priced the Xbox One console at just £349.99 with free delivery, down from the previous RRP of $429.99. So if you are considering purchasing a new Xbox One now might be a good time to take the plunge.
To re-cap Microsoft Xbox One is powered by a customised AMD Jaguar 8 core processor and a graphics processor that is tailored for Direct X 11 graphics, supported by 32MB of high bandwidth embedded ESRAM and 8GB of RAM.
No details have been released by Maplin UK as to whether the reduction in price is a limited time offer or whether this is now the new official price they will be offering the Xbox One console for within the UK. Remember this price reduction is not an official price cut by Microsoft but made by Maplin UK themselves. Perhaps Xbox One consoles in the UK are not selling as fast as retailers would like.
