We have been hearing quite a bit about Windows Phone 7 recently, and many of the new Windows Phone 7 smartphones are due to be released shortly.
Many of the new devices scheduled for imminent release are based on Windows Phone 7 Chasis 1, which means that these devices with have a large touchscreen display with just three physical buttons on the front of the smartphone, we have already seen some handsets that fall into this category like the HTC 7 Trophy.
Now the full specifications for Windows Phone 7 Chasis 2 smartphones have been released, and this covers devices with a screen resolution of 480 x 320 and ones that feature a physical keyboard, so we guess this is similar to BlackBerry smartphones.
WP7 devices will have one of two screen resolutions – either 800 x 480 for large touchscreen devices with the potential for slide-out Qwerty keyboards, or 480 x 320 for ‘BlackBerry’ style handsets that can incorporate a Qwerty on the front of the device. Microsoft expects the majority of WP7 devices to have the larger screen resolution at launch, with smaller resolution handsets coming later, said Foster.
There will also be a third category for Windows Phone 7 smartphones, Chasis 3 there are no details on what this will cover as yet.
