With the highly anticipated Apple event taking place on Wednesday this week the rumour mills have been in high gear speculating on what Apple might or might not be announcing in their Keynote event.
Another tablet rumour which has now surfaced is speculating that Barnes & Noble might be gearing up to announced the arrival of a new Windows 8 Powered Nook tablet before the end of the month.
Evidence that a new Nook is inbound has already been discovered, and the existing Nook has taken a price drop a short time ago suggesting that a new version might be on its way. The Digital Trends website who broke the rumour explains:
“Our sources at Barnes & Noble, who wished to remain anonymous, confirmed to Digital Trends that a new Nook will be announced in late September and had the utmost confidence that a press conference will be held in the Union Square flagship location in New York City — the same space previous press events have previously been held. The specific details surrounding the tablet’s specs and a solid date for the announcement is still shrouded in secrecy.”
Even though the new Nook tablet might be announced this month, if it is indeed running Microsoft’s new Windows 8 operating system it will not be arriving in stores until after the Windows 8 official launch on October 26th 2012. No information on pricing or worldwide availability has been leaked as yet, but as soon as information comes to light we will keep you updated as always.
