If you are enjoying the second series of the popular Westworld TV series you are sure to be interested in a new Westworld style robot which is being created by UK robotics company Engineered Arts. Engineered Arts creates robots for research, education and entertainment purposes and has recently unveiled its flagship series of realistic robots Mesmer which include skin pores and individual hairs and have been “skinned by the best in the TV and film business,” explained the company. The robot pictured above, called “Fred” is being worked on by Engineered Arts’ prosthetic expert Mike Humphrey. Watch the demonstration video below to learn more about the development of life-sized, Engineered Arts humanoid robots that have been specifically designed to provide a realistic and smooth movement.
“Mesmer is a system for building lifelike humanoid robots – all the parts that are needed to breathe life into a character. Most importantly all of these components were designed from scratch by Engineered Arts Ltd specifically for humanoid robots, so everything fits and works together in perfect harmony. Other companies use a hodgepodge of bits from various vendors that often don’t work well together.”
