Verizon Wireless will start taking orders for the new CDMA iPhone 4 from the 3rd of February 2011 for existing customers and for the 10th of February 2011.
Verizon hadn’t released any details of their iPhone 4 plans, but they briefly appeared on Apple’s website last week, and were quickly removed but not before screenshots were obtained of the plans.
The 16GB iPhone 4 will retail for $199 on Verizon, whilst the 32GB iPhone 4 will retail for $299, and plans start at $39.99, and you will also need a data plan which costs $29 a month for unlimited data, you can see full details of the plans below.
Details of Verizon’s iPhone 4 Plans
The plans for the Verizon iPhone 4 are designed to cater to a variety of users, from light to heavy data consumers. The basic voice plan starts at $39.99 per month, which includes 450 minutes of talk time. For those who need more talk time, there are options for 900 minutes at $59.99 per month and unlimited talk time at $69.99 per month.
In addition to the voice plans, a data plan is mandatory for iPhone 4 users. Verizon offers an unlimited data plan for $29.99 per month, which is a significant draw for heavy data users who stream videos, download apps, and browse the internet frequently. This unlimited data plan is particularly appealing in an era where many carriers are moving towards tiered data plans with caps and overage charges.
Comparing Verizon’s iPhone 4 to Other Carriers
When comparing Verizon’s iPhone 4 offerings to those of other carriers, it’s important to consider both the cost and the network performance. AT&T, which had been the exclusive carrier for the iPhone in the U.S. until Verizon’s announcement, offered similar pricing for the iPhone 4. However, Verizon’s CDMA network is known for its extensive coverage and reliability, especially in rural areas where AT&T’s GSM network might be less robust.
Moreover, Verizon’s introduction of the iPhone 4 on its network marked a significant shift in the competitive landscape of U.S. mobile carriers. It provided consumers with more choices and potentially better service, depending on their location and usage patterns. For instance, users who experienced dropped calls or slower data speeds on AT&T’s network might find Verizon’s network to be a more reliable alternative.
Additionally, Verizon’s iPhone 4 comes with the ability to act as a mobile hotspot, allowing users to connect up to five devices to the internet via the iPhone’s cellular connection. This feature is particularly useful for users who need internet access on multiple devices while on the go.
