Verizon has unveiled its currently developing a new tablet application called ‘What’s Hot’ to allow viewers to watch live TV from their tablet devices.
Viewers using the new app will be able to pick and choose amongst live shows being broadcast locally, with built in sorting options via program type, sports or news, for example.
It is expected that the new app will be first launched on Android and then closely followed by an iPad application, that Verizon hopes to have approved by Apple by the end of the year.
Verizon says there wont be any extra charges to watch TV in the home, but that it’s talking to media companies about licensing content to be viewed while roaming with your device and is currently in talks with CNN and Time Warner.
Verizon have also released details of a new feature for Fios customers to be introduced later this year, called a Flexview service. That will allowing films to be watched on up to five devices with them stored in the cloud and able to be rented for as little as $2 a film.
