It’s been a pretty hectic week at Twitter. First, the company announced they’re going to introduce a new profile page design, which looks more like how profiles look on Facebook.
Now, the company has introduced another new feature, real-time notifications for its website. This means that whenever someone sends you a tweet, you’ll get a pop-up notification on the twitter.com.
It’s not just for mentions, but it also works when someone sends you direct messages, retweets, favorites, or if someone follows you on Twitter.
When you’re logged in on twitter.com, you will receive notifications if someone has replied, favorited or retweeted one of your Tweets. You can also receive notifications for direct messages and new followers. They’re fully interactive, so that you can reply, favorite, retweet, and follow right from the notification. We’ll be rolling this feature out over the coming weeks.
You can also customize the notifications, and select which activities should come up as notifications from your account Settings. The feature will roll out globally in the coming weeks.
