Tinke, the wellness monitor designed for iOS devices, was first unveiled back at CES this year. Now, the Singapore-based startup Zensorium, who envisioned this innovative device, has revealed more details on what Tinke is capable of and how it can benefit users in their daily lives.
Once launched, Tinke simply plugs into the bottom 30-pin connector of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod, and will come with its own companion application, which will be free to download from the iTunes App Store. This seamless integration with iOS devices makes it incredibly convenient for users to monitor their wellness on the go.
Key Features of Tinke
Tinke is designed to monitor several critical aspects of your cardiorespiratory wellness, which is often one of the most important yet neglected aspects of fitness and wellness. Cardiorespiratory wellness is defined as the ability of your heart, lungs, and organs to consume, transport, and utilize oxygen efficiently. This has a significant impact on your daily life, affecting everything from your energy levels to your overall health.
The device provides you with data on your heart rate, respiratory rate, blood oxygen saturation levels, and heart rate variability, all via its built-in optical sensors. These sensors are highly accurate and can give you real-time feedback on your physical state, allowing you to make informed decisions about your health and fitness routines.

How Tinke Works
Using Tinke is straightforward. Once the device is plugged into your iOS device, you simply place your thumb on the sensor. The companion app will then guide you through the process of taking a reading. Within seconds, you’ll have a comprehensive overview of your cardiorespiratory health. The app also allows you to track your data over time, providing insights into how your wellness is improving or if there are areas that need more attention.
One of the standout features of Tinke is its ability to measure heart rate variability (HRV). HRV is a measure of the variation in time between each heartbeat and is considered a strong indicator of your autonomic nervous system’s health. A higher HRV generally indicates better cardiovascular fitness and a greater ability to handle stress.
The Tinke is still currently under development, but Zensorium hopes to start shipping the new wellness monitor Tinke device in the fourth quarter of 2012, for around $99. This price point makes it an affordable option for anyone looking to take control of their health and wellness.
