The very name evokes a sense of awesome and wonder. Neuroheadset—meaning it harnesses the power of your brain. What was once a common staple in various sci fi universes (Mechwarrior kinda comes to mind) is now available for limited pre-order in the U.S.A. (A bit of a downer, that.)

Neurohelmet

The product page couldn’t have put it better:

Based on the latest developments in neuro-technology, Emotiv has developed a revolutionary new personal interface for human computer interaction.  The Emotiv EPOC is a high resolution, neuro-signal acquisition and processing wireless neuroheadset.  It uses a set of sensors to tune into electric signals produced by the brain to detect player thoughts, feelings and expressions and connects wirelessly to most PCs.

This is no gimmick either. The Emotiv EPOC neurogadget packs some serious specs like processing power equal to a 2.4 GHz Pentium 4 and 50MB of disk space. Unfortunately, it’s compatible with several Windows OS’, so that means apologies everyone else.

The Emotiv EPOC is suited for several activities, be they fun, work, or a serious creative pursuit. As a juicy incentive for those ho are sweating to buy one ASAP, early-bird customers who order can avail of unique Emotiv apps and games.

The whole bundle of possibilities is currently selling for $299.
