Apple has stopped selling the third generation Apple TV on their website, this was first spotted by MacRumors and 9 to 5 Mac also confirmed that the device has been discontinued.
Apple has apparently emailed employees and educators to let them know that the third generation Apple TV is no longer available.
Whilst Apple has stopped selling the device, it is still available at some third party retailers in the UK, including John Lewis, these companies are probably clearing out their stock of the device.
The fourth generation Apple TV was announced last year, the device is Apple’s first TV box which plays games and apps and the company is obviously now focusing on this device.
It is not clear as yet on when we will see a new Apple TV released, we suspect we may have to wait until next year.
