Sprint has already rolled out the latest Android 4.4.2 goodness for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 a few weeks back.
These are not the only handsets which will receive the chocolaty taste of Android 4.4. Sprint has announced several other Galaxy handsets will also get the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat in the coming weeks, which includes Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S4 mini, Galaxy SIII, Galaxy Mega® and Galaxy Tab 3 7.0.
The latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat brings a host of improvements and enhancements to the devices including improved messaging capabilities that lets users use Hangouts as the default SMS/MMS app, improved UI, updated lock screen that provides users with quick access to camera and music album art, updated Google Mobile apps and more. Here’s a list of enhancements mentioned by the carrier.
- Location Menu: An integrated location menu enables users to easily activate GPS, Wi-Fi and mobile networks, while simultaneously checking the battery usage of apps running location service capabilities.
- Enhanced Messaging: Hangouts now includes SMS and MMS and a larger assortment of updated Emoji icons.
- Upgraded Google Mobile Service™ (GMS) apps: Users can automatically back up photos and video and can open, view, rename and share Google Docs and files.
- Updated Lock Screen Features: The lock screen now allows users to quickly access the camera with a new shortcut and view album art while music is playing.
The carrier didn’t mention an exact date when the roll out process will commence, except a vague “Exact timing of these updates will be shared at a later date.” We’ll update you as soon as they announce the dates.
