US mobile carrier Sprint has purchased customers and a spectrum from mobile carrier US Cellular in the United States Midwest, the deal is worth a reported $480 million.
The deal is expected to be finalized some time next year, and the spectrum that has been purchased covers areas like llinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri and Ohio, and this will allow Sprint to expand its network into these areas.
“Acquiring this spectrum will significantly increase Sprint’s network capacity and improve the customer experience in several important Midwest markets including Chicago and St. Louis,” Sprint Chief Executive Officer Dan Hesse said in the statement.
Sprint was recently purchased by Japanese mobile carrier Softbank, who are obviously looking to expand Sprint’s business in the US with the latest acquisition.
