We have been hearing more about Sony’s new Android tablets, the S1 and the S2, over the last couple of weeks, and now it looks like the Sony S1 will go on sale in the UK in September.
According to the guys over at This is My Next, the Sony S1 will be available to pre-order in the UK from the 1st of September at Sony Centre stores around the UK.
What we know so far is that the Sony S1 will feature a 9.4-inch multi-touch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, and it will come with Android Honeycomb, plus a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor.
Design and Build Quality
The Sony S1 is expected to have a unique design that sets it apart from other tablets on the market. Unlike the typical flat slate design, the S1 features a slightly curved back, which is said to provide a more comfortable grip. This ergonomic design could make it easier to hold the tablet for extended periods, whether you’re reading an e-book, watching a movie, or browsing the web. The build quality is expected to be top-notch, as Sony is known for its attention to detail and use of high-quality materials.
Software and Features
The Sony S1 will run on Android Honeycomb, which is specifically optimized for tablets. This means users can expect a smooth and intuitive user experience, with features like multi-tasking, customizable home screens, and access to a wide range of apps from the Google Play Store. Additionally, the S1 is expected to come with some exclusive Sony software, including access to the PlayStation Suite, which will allow users to play classic PlayStation games on their tablet.
Unfortunately, we don’t have the full specifications as yet, and there are also no details on how much it will cost when it goes on sale. However, given Sony’s history of pricing their products competitively, we can expect the S1 to be priced in line with other high-end tablets on the market.
One of the standout features of the Sony S1 is its display. The 9.4-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels should provide sharp and vibrant visuals, making it ideal for watching movies, playing games, and browsing the web. The multi-touch capability will also allow for a more interactive and engaging user experience.
In terms of performance, the dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor should ensure that the S1 can handle a wide range of tasks with ease. Whether you’re streaming video, playing games, or running multiple apps at once, the S1 should be able to keep up without any lag or slowdown.
Another interesting aspect of the Sony S1 is its potential for integration with other Sony products. For example, it is rumored that the S1 will be able to connect to Sony’s Bravia TVs, allowing users to stream content from their tablet to their TV with ease. This could make the S1 a great addition to any home entertainment setup.
As soon as we get some more information, we will let you guys know. In the meantime, it’s clear that the Sony S1 has the potential to be a strong contender in the tablet market. With its unique design, powerful hardware, and exclusive software features, it could be a great choice for anyone looking for a new tablet.
