A QR code needs to be scanned on your mobile device on the forecourt (although Shell advises that you stay in your car when scanning the QR code as mobile phones are banned on forecourts) to be able to pay. The new service currently lets you spend as little as £5 or a maximum of £100. Although Shell states that the service will soon allow purchases from £20 to £150 per transaction.
Fill Up & Go is currently only available in the UK and will be rolled out on a station by station basis says Shell. The PayPal shell payment service currently supports both Android and iOS devices and enables you to set up a pin that connects from the Shell application to your PayPal account. You can download the new Shell Motorist application directly from the iTunes App Store or the Google Play store. Features include :
– Use the Fill Up & Go mobile payment service – powered by PayPal – to pay for fuel without having to go into store
– Use the app to receive special offers, check your Shell loyalty card points balance and transactions. You can also see how you can redeem your loyalty points.
