Seagate has today announced the purchase of computer hardware company LaCie offering to purchase Philippe Spruch, LaCie CEO’s 64.5% Ownership Position, for a price of $186 million.
LaCie well known for its external drives which we have featured hear on Geeky Gadgets will be a good match for Seagate who currently produces both internal and external storage drives, and is of the world’s largest manufacturers of hard disk drives.
Todays press release explains:
“The transaction would combine two highly complementary product and technology portfolios, adding LaCie’s line of premium branded consumer storage solutions, network-attached storage solutions and software offerings to Seagate’s array of mainstream consumer storage products.”
LaCie was founded in 1987 and specialises in the manufacture of external hard drives, RAID arrays, optical drives, Flash Drives, and computer monitors. Offering a choice of connectivity and including the new Thunderbolt ports and USB 3.0 ports for extra transfer speed.
