Some of our readers might remember the very unique and innovative Sandwichbike which has been created as a build it yourself bike, offering cyclists with a unique way to customise their ride.
The Sandwichbike has been inspired by the concept of flat packing and home assembly, think Ikea and comes in a box ready for you to assemble with all the tools necessary.
The Sandwichbike weighs an impressive 17kg and measures 175 x 62 x 95 cm when constructed and its main frame has been built from Beech Plywood which is PEFC approved, weather coated and tested according to EN and ISO standards. Its fitted with a Shimano single speed coaster brake and 14G stainless steel spokes.
“The Sandwichbike, a bike made out of two wooden plates! The contemporary design, the large surface of the frame and the absence of welding joints makes the frame visually attractive and easy to assemble within 30 minutes. The bike will be delivered in a flat cardboard box and can be assembled at home with a few basic tools (provided with the box). With excellent driving dynamics, the Sandwichbike is a unique and highly sophisticated product.”
The Sandwichbike will start shipping in Europe on the 1st of December 2013 and is priced at €799 or around $1,000. For more information on the new Sandwichbike jump over to the official Sandwichbike website for details.
