Earlier this week Respawn the developers of the upcoming Titanfall game which is currently in production caused a backlash from gamers waiting for the launch of the new Titanfall game when they announced that the maximum play account within the game will be 6 versus 6.
Gamers waiting for the launch of the new Titanfall game took to social media sites to express their concern and dissatisfaction at what they thought was a low maximum player account.
As the game hasn’t even officially launched as yet it’s a little tricky to know whether the 6 versus 6 player count well have any adverse effect on the gameplay within Titanfall.
As long as the maps within the game are tailored to this maximum player limit there should be no problem. However only time will tell and as soon as the game launches will have a much better idea. In the meantime Titanfall producer Drew “DKo5” McCoy responded to the complaints on NeoGAF saying :
“Lots of armchair game designing going on in here. I’d suggest playing before judging a something as insignificant as a number in a vacuum.
“Vince is right – we tried a huge amount of playercounts (all the way down to 1v1 and up quite high) and designed the maps, gameplay mechanics, and entire experience around which played best. If anyone wants to chase the numbers game, perhaps we’re not the experience they’re after? I dunno.
“And FYI, for amount of stuff happening at once in a map you’ll be hard pressed to find a game that keeps the action higher. I literally have to stop playing every few rounds because my heart just can’t take it some times. Remember, you can get out of your Titan and let it roam on AI mode – meaning there can be 12 Pilots wallrunning around, 12 Titans stomping below, and dozens of AI doing their thing.
“Oh, and I keep seeing people thinking we’ve got “bots” when we talk about AI. Thats not how they are. The AI in Titanfall are not replacements for human players. Our playercount is not 6v6 because of AI – AI play their own role in the game and are a different class of character in the game.
“Can’t wait! Only a couple months until speculative threads like this are gone and people are actually talking about their experiences with the game. Its truly fun stuff, and I hope everyone at least gives it a try.”
The Titanfall game is an exclusive game launching on PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, and allows players to only fight in online multiplayer matches set on a war-torn planet, either on foot or piloting mech-style Titans.
The Titanfall game won over 60 awards at its E3 2013 reveal earlier this year and is currently available to pre-order today and will be officially launching on March 11th, 2014 in North America and on March 13th 2014 throughout Europe.
