Powermat the creator of the wireless induction charging mats, that became available around 16 months ago is now looking to develop its charging system into new products and has a few of their ideas on show at MWC this week.
Powermat’s charging systems use magnetic induction technology to provide its wire free charging and Powermat is now looking to expand into new areas including airports, cars, and kitchens to begin.
Powermat has already partnered with Arconas the maker of airport seating, to include Powermat charging stations in its new line of airport seating, pictured above. The new seats will be available in 150 airports worldwide and will also incorporate standard AC sockets just incase you laptop of other gadgets need a boost as well, and are not induction ready.
Powermat has also partnered with General Motors (GM) in the US to provide a Powermat charging surface in the center console of the electric Chevy Volt, with GM looking to expand the system to other models very shortly.
