Pioneer has rolled to a new home theater receiver called the VSX-80. The new receiver has many nice features and supports 7.2-channel surround sound. The receiver has seven HDMI 2.0 ports on it and supports pass through for 4K UHD content. One of the coolest features is that the receiver supports 4k upscaling that can turn HD content into UHD.
The receiver is Roku Ready certified when connected with a Streaming Stick it supports lots of channels of online content. Indie the VSX-80 uses an ESS Sabre Premier Audio DAC and supports high-resolution digital audio files. The receiver is aimed at custom installers and has lots of control options.
The receiver has both RS-232 and IP control capability and can be operated using an available Pioneer app. An optional wireless network adapter can be used to give the device access to the web. Multi zone capability lets the device support audio in different rooms. The receiver supports six different speaker configurations from a 7.2 channel up to a 5.2 channel with the other outputs used for audio in other rooms. Pioneer will sell the VSX-80 starting in March for $700.
