Onkyo has announced that it will be selling a dual screen netbook. We have already seen a dual screen netbook from Kohjinsha, and now Onkyo will be selling a re-branded version of the Kojinsha model with better specifications.
The Onkyo DX1007A5 Dual Screen Netbook will feature two 10.1 LED backlit displays, with a resolution of 1,366 x 768, as opposed to the 1024 x 600 resolution on the Kojinsha model.
Enhanced Specifications and Features
On top of that, the Onkyo DX1007A5 will come with 2GB of RAM (1GB on the Onkyo Kojinsha model), a 320GB hard drive as opposed to a 160GB hard drive in the Kojinsha model, although it doesn’t feature the 1-Seg digital TV tuner that the Kojinsha model does. This significant increase in storage capacity and memory makes the Onkyo DX1007A5 a more powerful and versatile device, suitable for a wider range of applications and more intensive multitasking.
The Onkyo DX1007A5 Dual Screen Netbook will feature a 1.6GHZ AMD Athlon Neo MV040 processor, plus an ATI Radeon HD3200 graphics card, three USB 2.0 ports, a 1.3 megapixel web camera, Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, there is also a multi memory card reader. These specifications ensure that the netbook can handle a variety of tasks, from basic computing to more demanding applications such as video playback and light gaming.
Practical Applications and Market Availability
The dual-screen setup is particularly useful for professionals who need to multitask efficiently. For example, a user could have a document open on one screen while browsing the internet or running a different application on the other. This setup can significantly enhance productivity, making it an attractive option for business users, students, and anyone who needs to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
The Onkyo DX1007A5 Dual Screen Netbook will be available in Japan shortly for about $950 and it comes with Windows 7 Home Premium. This price point positions it as a premium netbook, reflecting its advanced features and dual-screen capability. There are no details on when we are likely to see it in the US and Europe, but given the growing interest in dual-screen devices, it is possible that Onkyo may expand its availability to other markets in the future.
The Onkyo DX1007A5 Dual Screen Netbook represents a significant step forward in netbook technology, offering enhanced specifications and a unique dual-screen setup that can greatly improve productivity. While it is currently only available in Japan, its advanced features and potential applications make it a device worth watching for in other markets.
