Nokia has announced that it will be producing ‘Green’ versions of their N8 and C7 smartphones, in partnership with O2 in the UK and Telefonica in Spain.
Both of these greener smartphones will be designed to have the same look and feel of the existing N8 and C7, although Nokia will be using bio-plastics instead of regular plastic.
As well as the plastic, the green versions of the Nokia N8 and C7 will feature AMOLED displays, which use less power than the existing displays in both smartphones.
As well as changes to the greener handsets, Nokia will also be packaging the phones in more environmentally friendly packaging which is recyclable.
Whilst this is a good effort from Nokia to have less impact on the environment, I do wonder why they have to have special ‘green’ versions of these two smartphones, why not just make the original models in the same way as the green ones.
