Nokia has announced its partnership with HMD Global who will be making the new Nokia Android smartphones and tablets.
The deal between Nokia and HMD Global is for the next 10 years, so it looks like we can expect to see the new Nokia devices around for some time, which is good news.
Nokia confirms that the strategic agreement covering branding rights and intellectual property licensing with HMD Global Oy (HMD), originally announced on May 18, 2016 has come into force.
HMD has today announced the completion of transactions between HMD, FIH Mobile Limited (a subsidiary of Hon Hai Precision Industries trading as Foxconn Technology Group) and Microsoft, which means that HMD can begin operations as the new home of Nokia phones, under an exclusive global brand license1 for the next ten years.
We are expecting to see the first of these new Nokia Android smartphones and tablets at Mobile World Congress in February, as soon as we get some more details, we will let you guys know.
