It looks like Apple may be launching new versions of its Mac Pro and Mac Mini, and according to Cnet’s Brian Tong, they are scheduled to hit the stores either at the end of July or the beginning of August.
Both the new Mac Pro’s and Mac Mini’s are reported to come with Intel’s new Thunderbolt technology, and both will apparently come preloaded with Mac OS X Lion.
EXCLUSIVE: My sources tell me ALL NEW Next-Gen Mac Pros and Mac Minis will launch either end of July first week of August.
We don’t have any specifications on either model as yet, Brian Tong from Cnet has said that the source that gave him the information is the same source that revealed the new iMac’s earlier this year.
Thunderbolt Technology
Thunderbolt technology, developed by Intel in collaboration with Apple, is a revolutionary I/O technology that supports high-resolution displays and high-performance data devices through a single, compact port. It was first introduced in the MacBook Pro in early 2011. Thunderbolt technology offers a significant improvement over previous data transfer technologies, providing speeds up to 40 Gbps. This makes it ideal for professionals who need to transfer large files quickly, such as video editors and graphic designers. The inclusion of Thunderbolt in the new Mac Pro and Mac Mini models will undoubtedly enhance their performance and appeal to power users.
Mac OS X Lion
Mac OS X Lion, also known as OS X 10.7, is the eighth major release of Apple’s desktop and server operating system for Macintosh computers. Released in July 2011, Lion brought many new features and improvements over its predecessor, Snow Leopard. Some of the key features include Mission Control, a unified view of all open applications and windows; Launchpad, a new application launcher; and full-screen apps, which allow applications to take up the entire screen for a more immersive experience. Additionally, Lion introduced new multi-touch gestures, Auto Save, and Versions, which automatically saves and manages different versions of documents. The preloading of Mac OS X Lion on the new Mac Pro and Mac Mini models ensures that users will have access to the latest and most advanced features right out of the box.
As soon as we get some more information on what Apple has planned for both the new Mac Pro’s and the new Mac Mini’s we will let you guys know.
