Guitarists may be interested in a creation by Santellan Sounds who have created a new type of wiring kit designed specifically for guitars that requires no soldiering to install.
The guitar wiring kitsAre equipped with modern electronics and have been designed to allow you to make tonal adjustments to achieve the perfect sound required.
The Solderless Guitar Wiring Kits project is currently over on the Kickstarter crowd funding website looking to raise $4,500 in pledges. Its creators explain a little more :
“When I started this venture I did my research on the current state of guitar wiring. Afterwards I came up with this analogy. If the pickups are the motor in a guitar then the wiring is the transmission that delivers its power to the amp, plain and simple.
So why is it that the current wiring market believes using the same old inflexible wiring method would be the optimum setup for hot single coil, P90 or humbuckers pickups then? The fact is it’s not. This issue is want leads many musicians to blame the pickups in their guitar for being unhappy with their tone. But about Tone? Musicians also have the desire to experiment with tones just like their music and want a greater tonal palette to give them creative freedom.
This project is to fund the next generation of this concept to other guitar models. I have 24 new designs that will cover PRS, Ibanez, Gibson and Fender guitars using any combination of pickups in them. The funds will allow me to manufacture these designs and bring these products to market in a quicker timeframe.
Here’s an example of some of the tonal circuits that will be incorporated into the new products. In this case it is being used on a bass guitar to illustrate that the type of guitar does not matter. They will work in any electric style guitar or bass. The tone capacitor changes are accomplished by flipping on of off a couple of dipswitches. The toggling between pickups in series or parallel is done by a pushpull switch.”
