Micromax has this week unveiled two new smartphones in the form of the Superfone Canvas A100 and Pixel A90, which have been created to provide budget-friendly Android smartphone solutions, running Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system.
The Canvas A100 is equipped with a 5-inch LCD display sporting a low resolution of 854 x 480, and is powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor, supported by 4GB RAM. It features a 5-megapixel rear camera and a front VGA camera, together with dual SIM support and a microSD card slot for expansion. This makes it a versatile option for users who need to manage multiple phone numbers or require additional storage for apps, photos, and media.
Pixel A90: A Sleeker Alternative
The Pixel A90 sports a slimmer design and is equipped with a 4.3-inch, 800 x 480 Super AMOLED screen. This type of display is known for its vibrant colors and deep blacks, making it a more visually appealing option compared to the LCD screen of the Canvas A100. The Pixel A90 is also powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor and similar hardware to the A100, but it comes with a Siri-style voice command personal assistant called AISHA. This feature allows users to perform tasks such as sending messages, setting reminders, and searching the web using voice commands, adding a layer of convenience and modern functionality.
Additionally, the Pixel A90 boasts an 8-megapixel rear camera, which is a significant upgrade from the 5-megapixel camera on the Canvas A100. This higher resolution camera allows for better quality photos and videos, making it a better choice for photography enthusiasts or those who frequently capture moments on their smartphone.
Pricing and Availability
The Canvas A100 is priced at 9,999 rupees or $180 off-contract, making it an affordable option for those looking for a large screen smartphone without breaking the bank. On the other hand, the Pixel A90 is priced at 12,990 rupees or $234, reflecting its sleeker design and additional features such as the Super AMOLED display and AISHA voice assistant.
Both smartphones offer a good balance of features and affordability, catering to different user preferences and needs. The Canvas A100 is ideal for users who prioritize screen size and dual SIM functionality, while the Pixel A90 is better suited for those who value a more compact design, superior display quality, and enhanced camera capabilities.
