Lytro as this week published an article detailing how to create virtual reality content using its Lytro Illum Camera together with their latest Lytro Desktop 4.3 software.
With the recent launch of the Lytro Desktop application, the company included a number of important features that make the creation of VR content much easier including a new 3D Side-by-Side Animations of Living Pictures feature.
Lytro explains more about how the virtual reality footage is created, and can be used with the ever expanding market of VR headsets that are currently edging into the consumer market.
To produce VR content from a Living Picture in Lytro Desktop, simply select the 3D Side-by-Side export option to generate an H.264 Side-by-Side video file that can be viewed in your favorite HMD.
The actual production process is straightforward. The most important starting point is your subject matter and composition. Be sure to create an image that has a rich three-dimensional content with close foreground subjects for a full range of refocusable depth and maximum parallax.
