LG currently uses webOS for its range of smart TVs, although it looks like the company has other plans for the former Palm mobile OS, a new LG webOS smartwatch.
According to a recent report by the Wall Street Journal, LG will be using webOS on their smart watches as an alternative to Google’s Android Wear OS.
An LG representative at this weeks Consumer Electronics Show, told the Wall Street Journal that the company plans to launch an LG webOS smartwatch early next year.
“We’re going to slowly try to build an (software) ecosystem around areas we can have more control over,”, the company’s current range of smart watches run Google’s Android Wear OS.
LG acquired webOS from HP back in 2013, and the company has turned the previous mobile platform into their smart TV platform, as soon as we get some more details on this new smartwatch, we will let you guys know.
