Earlier this week we reported on THX plans to start issuing certificates to tablets, smartphones, and mobile devices. Well, THX has also this week issued their first THX certificate to a 3D HDTV.
LG’s new LW9800 55-inch passive 3D HDTV is the proud owner of the THX certificate and is currently one of LG’s flagship TVs retailing for around $3,800. The new THX certification is a seal of approval that the HDTV has passed crucial gamma, luminance, and color temperature benchmarks after over 400 individual tests were carried out on the LG LW9800 HDTV.
Features and Specifications
As well as its THX certificate, the LG LW9800 3D HDTV also comes supplied with 4 pairs of 3D glasses, making it easy for families and friends to enjoy immersive 3D content together. The TV is fitted with a Smart TV online content package, providing you with access to popular streaming services such as Amazon Instant Video, Hulu Plus, and MOG, to name a few. This makes it a versatile entertainment hub that caters to a wide range of viewing preferences.
The LW9800 also boasts advanced local dimming technology, which enhances the contrast and black levels, providing a more vivid and lifelike picture. This feature is particularly beneficial when watching movies or playing video games, as it adds depth and realism to the visuals.
Why THX Certification Matters
THX certification is not just a marketing gimmick; it is a rigorous process that ensures the highest standards of audio and visual performance. For a device to earn this certification, it must undergo over 400 individual tests that assess various aspects such as gamma, luminance, and color temperature. These tests are designed to ensure that the device delivers a consistent and high-quality viewing experience.
For consumers, a THX-certified product means peace of mind. You can be assured that the device has met stringent quality standards and will provide an exceptional viewing experience. This is particularly important for high-end products like the LG LW9800 3D HDTV, where consumers are making a significant investment.
The THX certification also sets a benchmark for other manufacturers, encouraging them to strive for higher quality and performance in their products. This ultimately benefits consumers by raising the overall standard of available technology.
