A new design is currently on the Kickstarter website called the Lens or Focus Shifter (final name to be decided by Kickstarter backers), which can be attached to any camera lens and provides you with an easy way to refocus to certain focus settings whilst filming using the additonal maker board.
The Lens/Focus Shifter has been designed by Daniel Bauen + Microfacturing, and has been created to improved manual focus speed and accuracy when taking photographs.
The shifter simply slides onto your lens focus ring and then is held in place tightening the ball end. The focus marker plate is held in place with an elastic band and has rubber feet to prevent slippage.
“The Shifter operates on the full dynamic range of the lens. Its design allows you to smoothly pull focus without any jarring starts or stops. The ball design is easy to grasp so you can avoid twisting your hand into uncomfortable positions when pulling focus.”
The Lens or Focus Shifter design is currently over on the Kickstarter website looking to raise enough pledges to make the jump from concept to production. So if you think it is something you could benefit from, jump over to the Kickstarter website now to make a pledge and help the Shifter become a reality.
