We have featured a number of Lenvovo handsets on Geeky gadgets recently, although these devices have been available in China it now looks like Lenovo has plans to expand its smartphone operation to the US.
According to the WSJ, Lenovo CEO Yanh Yuanqing said that Lenovo are looking to launch their smartphones in the US, and we can expect devices to launch within a year.
“Smartphones are our new opportunity,” Yang said, adding that the company sees the market as a source of longer-term growth. “As a public company you always have to consider how to grow.”
Lenovo has already had success with their smartphones in China, the company is already the second largest smartphone maker in China, and they are obviously looking to expand into the US market.
