Thanks to the early release of a printed brochure from Fujitsu, their new Loox F-07C smartphone/UMPC has just been leaked and unveiled with the ability to run dual operating systems.
The Fujitsu Loox F-07C is capable of running both Windows 7 and Symbian OS onboard and is equipped with a 4-inch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600. It’s powered by an Intel Atom Z600 at 1.2GHz, and the GPU on the smartphone is an Intel 600 GMA with Direct X 9.0 support.
Storage and Expandability
Onboard storage is provided via a 32GB SSD, which is quite substantial for a device of its size and era. Additionally, there is an SD card slot that allows users to expand the memory by another 32GB if required. This flexibility in storage is particularly useful for users who need to store large files or a significant number of applications. As you can see by the scanned brochure above, the Fujitsu Loox F-07C comes with a full QWERTY keyboard, making it easier to type emails, documents, and messages. The device measures just 125mm H x 61mm W x 19.8mm, making it compact and portable.
Connectivity and Battery Life
Connectivity is provided by GSM, FOMA/3G networks, ensuring that users can stay connected almost anywhere. Additionally, the device supports WiFi and Bluetooth, allowing for wireless internet access and the ability to connect to other Bluetooth-enabled devices such as headphones, speakers, and other peripherals. The battery is capable of providing up to 350 hours of standby time when in just the phone mode, which is quite impressive. However, when used in Windows 7 mode, the battery life drops significantly to just 1.6 – 2 hours. This is a common trade-off for devices that run full desktop operating systems, as they tend to consume more power.
The dual operating system feature is particularly noteworthy. Running Windows 7 allows users to have a full desktop experience, which can be incredibly useful for productivity tasks such as editing documents, browsing the web with a full desktop browser, and running Windows-specific applications. On the other hand, Symbian OS is more optimized for mobile use, offering better battery life and a more streamlined experience for phone calls, messaging, and mobile apps.
Unfortunately, no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet, but as soon as it becomes available, we will let you know. The Fujitsu Loox F-07C represents an interesting blend of smartphone and UMPC (Ultra-Mobile PC) capabilities, catering to users who need the functionality of a full PC in a compact, portable form factor. This device could be particularly appealing to business professionals, tech enthusiasts, and anyone who needs to perform complex tasks on the go.
The Fujitsu Loox F-07C is a unique device that offers the best of both worlds: the power and versatility of a Windows 7 PC and the convenience and efficiency of a Symbian smartphone. While the battery life in Windows 7 mode may be a limitation, the device’s dual operating system capability, compact size, and full QWERTY keyboard make it a compelling option for those who need a versatile, portable computing solution.
