LaCie has today unveiled a new limited edition external hard drive called the Blade Runner, they have created with the help of French product designer designer Philippe Starck.
The LaCie Blade Runner is equipped with 10GB of complimentary Wuala Secure Cloud Storage, and comes with 4TB of onboard storage of files, and is fitted with a USB 3.0 port for fast transfer of files.
“In my design nothing is useless – style, symbolism or functionality,” says Philippe Starck. “In the Blade Runner, the warm interior electronics are encased in a mystifying shell, and the blades are the radiator that cools it down. The suspension gives space for air to circulate around the hard drive, and the metal material increases the temperature conduction.”
Only 9,999 Lacie Blade Runner external hard drives will be created and each one is custom-built to ensure “superb form and function” says LaCie, and its now available to purchase for $300 from the LaCie Online Store and specialty retailers.
